FAQ.

How do you ensure copyright defensibility in an AI workflow?
icon

Our workflow was built to withstand the copyright and provenance review of major-studio legal departments. Our "Artist Led, AI Powered" methodology creates a clear, auditable chain of human authorship. For projects of a certain scale, we assign a dedicated rights & provenance lead who maintains a complete log of human-created source materials, model usage, and artist modifications.

Are you tied to a specific AI model or platform?
icon

No. We are fiercely model-agnostic. Relying on a single vendor is a quality risk and a trade-off we're not willing to make. Our pipeline and artists integrate dozens of best-in-class commercial and open-source models in concert with traditional methods, allowing us to tailor the tech stack specifically to the project's needs. We don't shoehorn technology into stories. Every pipeline is bespoke to the project, ensuring we are 100% aligned with the creative goals and success of the storyteller.

How does your process compare in cost and speed to traditional?
icon

We design and produce bespoke productions. Because every project is handmade, we tailor the pipeline to a project's goals—some partners prioritize speed to screen, some need an "impossible" shot or sequence, others want to unlock ambitious projects that otherwise wouldn't get made. Quality compromise is never on the table. Like any serious production, there's no one-size-fits-all. Get in touch and we'll scope what a bespoke pipeline can do for your project's budget and schedule.

Can I hire you for just an individual shot or visual development/concept work?
icon

Yes, in addition to our Originals, we take on one-off projects like rapid VFX shots. We also conduct style explorations for IP holders and filmmakers at the viz dev/concept stage, starting with an artist's hand. Seeing ideas up on their feet, ready to iterate, is a tremendous leg up for ourselves, clients, and partners.

Can AI work fit the specs of my pipeline?
icon

We deliver exacting industry standards, beyond just social feeds. From bit depth, 4k EXR delivery to fit final DI, to lensing, to asset management, we provide the granular control stakeholders demand.

Does using AI mean sacrificing artistic control?
icon

Every project we deliver is handmade—shaped by thousands of intentional human decisions by our writers, directors, illustrators, animators, compositors, VFX artists, and editors. We designed our pipeline to be directable, with the filmmaker always in the driver's seat. You'll recognize tried-and-true traditional methods like: hand-drawn character design, storyboarding, CG builds, performance capture, lens choice, and compositing. As always in Hollywood, the crew brings interpretations, flourishes, and ideas, and we take advantage of "happy accidents" when they serve the story. The filmmaker drives. The final product reflects the artist's unique POV and singular vision.

What about the ethical concerns around training data, artists' jobs, consent?
icon

They're real. The questions around how AI models were trained aren't settled and artists are right to demand answers. What we control is our own conduct: every Tentacular project starts from original work made by professional artists who are paid and credited. When we want to use an artist's style, we hire the artist. We don't train on anyone's work without written consent. We also believe the answer to job fears is creating greenlights. Our economics exist to make the bold, original projects that weren't getting made at all, which means new work for writers, artists, and crews. The goal is a bigger creative class with greater creative ambitions to match.
